Water Extraction Equipment

Portable extractors like these remove excess water from water-saturated floors. This is one of our Crew Chiefs, Keegan, operating the Portable Rover from a recent job in Madison, WI. An extractor has three major components: a heater, a pump, and a vacuum system.  With this machine, we can expedite the removal of water and humidity from damaged materials and textiles to help restore it to preloss conditions. In doing this, the potential of having to replace contents or belongings is lowered.

In this picture is an extreme example of floor buckling of a basketball court in Middleton, WI. Water damage is the leading cause of floor buckling.  Flooding can be a cause of floor buckling, Floor buckling happens with large amounts of water, but it can also occur when moisture builds up over time from something like a broken pipe, a leaking pipe, or water leakage from an outside source. #SERVPROdanecountywest #waterdamage #stormdamage

We sometimes utilize the use of containment to escalate the drying process from water damaged areas

We sometimes utilize the use of containment to escalate the drying process from water damaged property.  If the affected room is too large, we know that it might take longer to dry.  It's sometimes necessary to set up containment to concentrate our drying efforts to one particular area of the room. Such as depicted in this photo. This technique assists us with speeding up the drying process and helping us to get your home or office back to its preloss condition.

Cavity Drying System

Often times pipes break, sinks overflow and dishwashers leak. This is a cavity drying system we used recently on a job in Fitchburg, WI that allowed our trained technicians to dry in a hard to reach place like underneath kitchen cabinets and various wall cavities. This allowed us to dry-in-place rather than tear out their kitchen cabinets.

This was a broken spigot in Fitchburg, WI due to subzero temperatures during this past winter. Upon attempting to fill their pool the owner’s basement flooded with water. Water Damage in Middleton from Frozen Spigot This Past Winter

This is a water loss in Middleton due to a spigot that had split during sub-zero temperatures this past winter. Often times these problems are not discovered until the spring when the homeowner turns on their hoses to start watering plants and lawn. Water ran down through the ceiling and down the walls and affected the flooring in the basement. SERVPRO of Dane County West Professionals removed the affected flooring to dry the subfloor below and removed the drywall in the wall due to the blown in insulation behind it. Once blown in insulation gets wet it compresses and loses its effectiveness. Rebuild is in process.

Water Loss from Shower Cracks and Grout Lines in Oregon, WI

This was a water loss in Oregon, Wisconsin. A walk-in shower had cracks in the grout lines leading to water leaking through the shower pan and into the ceiling and room below. Unfortunately, this problem was not diagnosed right away and went on for quite some time. Mitigation required removing drywall and insulation that had been affected. Once those materials were removed we then set up an appointment to dry the sub-floor and floor joists.

An example of how much water can be pulled out of the air from a water loss

This picture of a large water-filled garbage can is from two dehumidifiers we used on a commercial water loss. This is an example of how much water can be pulled out of the air from a water loss over a two day period. We use large receptacles, like this garbage can, to collect the water from our dehumidifiers when a drain isn't accessible.

Drying / Dehumidification

Our Professionals will use room measurements, temperature, and relative humidity to determine the optimal number of air movers and dehumidifiers to dry your home or business. We’ll carefully monitor the progress using moisture meters until the materials return to acceptable drying goals.

SERVPRO of Dane County West Professionals Use Highly Technical Equipment to Mitigate Your Loss

SERVPRO of Dane County West was able to extract over and inch of standing water in an unfinished basement in Verona, WI.  Using the portable extractor, we were able to remove over 100 gallons of water from the structure.

An extractor has three major components: a heater, a pump, and a vacuum system. Our technicians use this machine for variable heat-controlled cleaning, including to heat the rinse solutions to clean more effectively. The vacuum system and waste recovery tank remove soils and moisture from the surface and collects it in tank.

Toilet leaks can cause extensive water damage to flooring, don’t worry, we are here to help!

A standard toilet has at least five seals with the potential for leaking. In each case, the solution
is to identify the faulty seal and tighten or replace it. Should the leak go unnoticed for many
days, like in this picture above, it’s important to remove the toilet and replace the water
damaged floor.

When water saturates flooring and sub-flooring for an extensive amount of time,
mold and decay is inevitable, as also seen in this picture.

SERVPRO of Dane County West has
the expertise to assess the degree of the water damage and if the flooring is unsalvageable, we
can rebuild your space and make it “Like it never even happened.”

Using Advanced Industrial Drying and Dehumidification Equipment in Water Damage Restoration

Once the excess water has been removed, the floors and walls may appear dry, but a quick inspection will reveal they are wet to the touch. Nearly all building materials, like wood, drywall, and flooring materials, are porous and therefore retain water. After Water Extraction has occurred SERVPRO of Dane County West Professionals use advanced industrial drying and dehumidification equipment as seen in the picture above.

SERVPRO of Dane County West Professionals will use room measurements, temperature, and relative humidity to determine the optimal number of air movers and dehumidifiers to dry your home or business. We’ll carefully monitor the progress using moisture meters until the materials return to acceptable drying goals.

SERVPRO of Dane County West uses Advanced Industrial Drying Equipment to Help Save Hardwood Floors

SERVPRO of Dane County West we utilize the latest in drying technologies to restore damaged materials instead of replacing.  This saves everyone time and money.  One great example of this is the floor drying system we use to save hardwood floors after a water loss.  The attached photo is from a home in Madison, WI that had a water loss.  We were able to save their hardwood floors using our floor drying system that utilizes the power of a high-pressure blower that vacuums water vapor right through the surface of the floor. Customer’s are happy that they don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to replace their existing hardwood floors!
